About Me

Mary Michell GTCL (hons), LTCL, PGCE

I studied Music at Trinity College of Music from 1985-1988. I studied French Horn with John Burden and piano with Wanda Jeziorska. I obtained my GTCL (hons)  music degree and LTCL Horn diploma at Trinity. I was unable to take my piano diploma at that time but have returned to piano lessons with the wonderful Beate Toyka with a view to working towards my Dip ABRSM (perf) diploma but I find I am increasingly absorbed in learning for pleasure - and loving it! Occasionally you will hear me performing at the Classical Coffee events in Lincoln.

I qualified, with a PGCE in primary education with music, as teacher in 1989 and have worked as a class teacher, and music teacher in primary schools in the UK and overseas. With almost 30 years of teaching experience, I now work as a private music teacher, conductor and horn player.

I am a member of The Curious Piano Teachers network, which gives me regular Professional Development and helps me keep my piano teaching fresh, dynamic and up to date. I am also a full professional member of EPTA UK (European Piano Teachers' association, an accrediting and regulating body for piano teachers. I hold a regularly updated DBS (Disclosing and Barring Service) certificate.
